Trayvon Martin’s Parents, James Baldwin and More to be Honored At This Year’s VH1 Trailblazer Honors

VH1 will be honoring #TrayvonMartin’s parents at the 2018 Trailblazer Honors.

Television producer, writer, and director #RyanMurphy will be given the same honor alongside the Martin family.

This is the event’s fifth year, and it was created to highlight those who exemplify civil activism and diversity. Trayvon’s parents have been a force in society since their fight to bring justice to their late son. Trayvon’s death sparked the #BlackLivesMatter movement for which Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin spearheaded.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

They will be honored for their efforts on gun reform and social justice. In addition, the influential author #JamesBaldwin and The American Civil Liberties Union will also receive honors.

VH1’s trailblazer Honors will air in a one-hour special on VH1 and Logo on June 28 at 9:30 p.m. (Eastern and Pacific).
