Troy Polamalu Announces Retirement -blogged by LexxThatsAll

After 12 memorable years, Troy Polamalu has decided to hang up his cleats for good. The Steelers star safety announced his plans for retirement Thursday evening.

When asked why, the 8-time pro bowler said that it all boiled down to family and efficiency. “If I’m in my fourth year, fifth year, even if I’m in my 10th year, I’m playing in Alaska. But when I started this process and started to debate whether I should come back or should I play, that was kind of the sign for me to say, ‘Whoa, if you’re just even debating it maybe you shouldn’t play anymore'” Polamalu went on to explain that he made the decision while in church.

Polamalu has had quite the career since being drafted in 2003 by Pittsburgh and finishes as the one of the Steeler’s most decorated defenders in franchise history. He rounds out with 8 Pro Bowls, 4 1st team All Pro recognitions, Defensive Player of the year, and Pro Football HOF 2nd team, and last but definitely not least 2 Super Bowls. Statistically he ends his career with 576 tackles, 12 sacks, and 32 interceptions.

Job very well done to the Tasmanian Devil and his hair.
