Two Attendees Win $5 Million In Lawsuit Against Fyre Festival Owner

Two Fyre Festival attendees are getting a nice coin after settling their case with the music festival’s owner.

Last year, the Fyre Festival experienced an epic fail after attendees were given less than adequate housing, no food and other poor conditions. Billy McFarland, the festival’s founder, had to fork over $5 million to two people in court following a lawsuit. The two plaintiffs are the first to be awarded. “We worked with [him] and his attorney and amicably decided to move on to other business matters,” said one of the co-plaintiffs, Seth Crossno, according to Vice.

Crossno and his partner originally asked for $25,000 but the judge gave them $5 million for compensatory damages in addition to an extra $1 million in punitive damages. Both men were paid compensatory damages in addition to an extra $1 million in punitive damages, according to Vice News.

Later in 2017, over $100 million damages were filed against McFarland and Ja Rule. McFarland was indicted for wire fraud.
