Tyrese Doesn’t Care About Black People

Have you checked out Tyrese’s new “I Gotta Chick” video lately? Notice anything missing? Well Essence.com did when they posted on their site that out of all the chicks Tyrese got for the video, only one female out of the crowd was black. That’s right, all but one of the women in the video were latino or mixed. Shocker? Not really.

Allow me to start off this blog by saying that it’s Tyrese’s video and he can have who ever he wants in it. If he wants to have 15 pink mud wrestling grizzly bears wearing the Missy Elliott Supa-Dupa-Fly trash bag outfit, he can do that. I do however have a few issues with other parts of this video. Let’s start with Black Ty’s Twitter explanation for the lack of ebony queens in his vid:

“I had a 2 day audition. I welcomed ALL women and went with the BEST,” he tweeted. “I don’t do favors… Doesn’t matter the race!! I’m Black as shit!!! Love my sisters!! You do auditions and go for the BEST! Not race! Love u!”

Well Tyrese, you were correct about one thing, you ARE black as shit but that’s not an excuse. Let’s start with the obvious. What I do know personally about this video shoot in particular is that they were going for a certain look. How do I know this? Well, I manage models and they approached one of my models in Los Angeles to do the video. Did she do it? Nope! She turned it down because it was an unpaid gig. That’s right, Jody wasn’t trying to pay any of the models yet wanted them to parade around in skimpy lingerie. How does my model look? Let’s just say she’s mixed with black and white. She didn’t even have to audition, they just asked for photographs. Besides the fact that a man who just starred in Transformers and at one point had a successful singing career can’t pay a couple of models to be in his video, let’s talk about these “auditions”. Now, my model in particular wasn’t asked to audition but according to Tyrese they had two-day auditions where only the best were selected. Okay, so what do you think the auditions were looking for? No speaking roles, no dancing, just looks right? So when you’re called in for Tyrese and his friends to look at you and you’re not chosen because you weren’t the “best” to audition what does that tell you? Oh, I know what it tells you TyTy, it tells you that you didn’t find any of the black women attractive. It wasn’t their acting skills that kept them from the video, it was their looks.

So why lie Tyrese? You’re entitled to your opinion and preference but why lie about how the women were chosen? Why not look all of those black women in the face and tell them they weren’t good enough? Oh, I know why, because you haven’t had a hit in years and you need to sell some records. Can’t have a bunch of black women not buying your CDs now can you? I don’t want to be the one to burst your bubble Ty but no one is going to buy that album. We haven’t been checkin for you since “Sweet Lady” and honestly, everything you say on Twitter is so annoying that if it wasn’t for my model submitting to be in your video I wouldn’t even know you were even worried about doing music anymore.  With that said, am I upset that Tyrese didn’t have any black women in his video? Not at all because TyTy wasn’t paying anyway. So why sit at a video shoot parading like a piece of meat for free when you can not get paid to just chill on the beach? Score one for the black girls! I don’t know why women are even up in arms about not being in the video anyway. Like Beyonce said, F-ck You Pay Me! Women in this “modeling” industry need to learn their worth. I don’t care if it’s Tyrese or Denzel Washington, if you’re going to work, you deserve to get paid.

Speaking of lack of payment, do you remember Tyrese’s tweet a couple of weeks ago regarding needing beats for his new mix tape. To refresh your memory he said Looking 4some original hot beats 4my new Mixtape. I’m NOT PAYING SHIT for the beats Oh really Ty? So you expect an up and coming producer to just give up his work to you for free because you’re Tyrese? What have you done for producers lately? You’re worth enough to be able to buy a beat. I mean, they’re going for like $50 at most from these newcomers. Now, I will give Tyrese credit for not pulling a Lil Wayne stunt and saying he’s going to pay but never footing the bill. For that, I commend him. But I won’t stand by while people are taken advantage of. If you are foolish enough to send that man free beats then you should never charge another soul, ever.

In following Tyrese on Twitter you can learn 3 things.

1 – He floods your Twitter timeline with pseudo intellectual quotes that no one cares about. He gives relationship advice but isn’t in the position to tell ANYONE about ANYTHING.

2 – He doesn’t care about black people. Frankly, if you’re in the hip hop industry at all (As a model or producer) you can bet that you won’t get a dime from Black Ty, even though he’s good for it. And if you can’t pass the paper bag test, chances are you won’t find yourself in a Tyrese video either.

3 – He is happy with his ignorance and has no intent on changing.
