Week 12 of the 2017-18 NFL season kicked off with another attack by Donald Trump. Amid reports of a plan to keep NFL teams in the locker room during the national anthem, Trump took to Twitter to condemn the idea, saying it is “almost as bad as kneeling.” However, many players were unmoved by Trump’s Twitter attack, including Oakland Raiders’ Marshawn Lynch, who was a victim of Trump’s fiery Twitter fingers the week before.
In week 12, Lynch remained seated during Eddie Money’s rendition of the national anthem. Seattle Seahawks’ Michael Bennett, Frank Clark, Jarran Reed, Marcus Smith, Quinton Jefferson, Cliff Avril, Nazair Jones, Sheldon Richardson and Dion Jordan sat during the anthem, while Branden Jackson and Duane Brown knelt. Marquise Goodwin, Eric Reid and Eli Harold of the San Francisco 49ers knelt during the anthem, and Marcus Peters of the Kansas City Chiefs skipped the anthem altogether. Miami Dolphins’ Kenny Stills, Michael Thomas, and Julius Thomas took a knee during the anthem, while New York Giants’ Olivier Vernon continued to be the only Giants player to protest during the anthem by taking a knee on Thursday.
As for the games, the Thanksgiving matchups were a sight to see. The Vikings beat the Lions, 30-23, the Chargers beat the Cowboys, 28-6 and the Redskins beat the Giants, 20-10.
On Sunday, The Bengals beat the Browns, 30-16, the Panthers beat the Jets, 35-27 and the Titans beat the Colts, 20-16. The Falcons flew over the Buccaneers, 34-20 and the Patriots defeated the Dolphins, 35-17. As the Eagles continue their reign over the NFL, Carson Wentz led the team to a 31-3 victory over the Bears. The Bills beat the Chiefs, 16-10 after their horrifying performance in Week 11. The Seahawks beat the 49ers, 24-13, and the Raiders beat the Broncos, 21-14. But not before Aqib Talib reverted back to his chain-snatching antics, ripping Michael Crabtree’s chain from his neck for the second time in a row. To make matters worse, Crabtree reportedly taped his chain to his chest in preparation to face off against Talib, but the chain snatcher still managed to get ahold of Crabtree’s chain, which sparked a brawl on the sideline that spilled onto the field. As a result, both players were ejected and will be suspended for two games.
The Rams beat the Saints, 26-20. The Cardinals beat the Jaguars, 27-24 and the Steelers beat the Packers, 31-28. On Monday, The Texans fells to the Baltimore Ravens, 23-16.
