YBN Almighty Jay Speaks Out About Being Beaten And Robbed: “I Knew It Was My Fault. I Didn’t Have No Security. I Was Tripping”

Rapper YBN Almighty Jay is speaking out about being robbed and beaten.

It’s been two weeks since Jay was brutally beaten and robbed twice in the same day; one of the beatings went viral in a recorded video.

Although Jay has retrieved his chain after the brutal attack, he is still healing from the wounds which led to him needing 300 stitches. Soon after the incident, Jay dropped a track titled, “Let Me Breathe,” that shared some details about the robbery as well how he’s dealing with the aftermath.

On Friday, the 19-year-old rapper broke down the song and opened up about the traumatic situation in an interview with Genius’ “Verified.”

“I ain’t gon’ lie I was laughing about it,” Jay said when describing his reaction to the attack. “But, it’s like, ‘What do we do?’ We don’t do nothing and act weak…or I’m like fuck it this how I get paid.” He went on to add, “I’m about to drop a song with the stitches in my face because everybody want to see them. I made the choice to shoot the video…it’s not like I was crying about it.”

While the incident was tragic, the teen says it helped him express himself through the track. “People like you just because you’re famous and shit, you live this perfect life,” he described. “But, shit. The same way people feel about shit, I feel the same way.”  Think back, Jay said he made the mistake of being alone. “I knew it was my fault,” Jay admitted. “I didn’t have no security. I was tripping.”
