Suge Knight to Serve 28 Years Behind Bars After Pleading No Contest In Murder Case

Suge Knight has officially secured a plea deal in his murder case, three years after the fatal hit-and-run of a man outside a Compton restaurant. 

According to the Los Angeles Times, Knight, whose real name is Marion Knight, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Terry Carter, in exchange for nearly three decades behind bars. 

Initially, Knight was facing the possibility of life in prison, with his trial set to begin with jury selection on Monday. But now, with his plea, Knight has the possibility to one day roam free. 

According to TMZ, as part of the new deal, Knight will serve 28 years in prison with credit for time served, which is about three and a half years. 

He will also be on parole for three years after his release. 

Though Knight was initially facing an even longer sentence, his voluntary manslaughter was pretty stiff, according to TMZ, because of his prior convictions. He also got an extra five years because the incident was determined to be “serious and violent.“

According to the publication, officials even stacked on another year for his truck, as officials deemed it a deadly weapon.
