Kevin Hart Sued For Nearly $2 Million Over Unpaid Commission to Marketing Partner; Hart Fires Back and Counter Sues

Kevin Hart has been slapped with a lawsuit over his alleged failure to cough up the commission on a huge marketing deal, and now the unpaid company is demanding nearly $2 million. 

In court documents obtained by The Blast, iGo Marketing & Entertainment says it secured a marketing deal with Hart to help negotiate celebrity tie-in deals on his behalf. 

The company says the deal included a 15% commission for each negotiated offer, and for the most part, Hart kept up his end of the bargain – until 2015. 

According to the suit, iGo says it negotiated a three-year deal between Hart and Rally Healthcare that would allow the comedian to get paid partly in cash and stock options. But when Hart ended his contract with iGo in 2015, iGo says he also ceased commission payments on deals they’d already secured. 

In addition to that, iGo says Hart failed to cough up the 15% commission on the third year option of the Rally Healthcare deal, let alone the value of the stock option. 

As a result, the company is suing for breach of contract, demanding no less than $1.8 million. In his response though, Hart said he never had a written agreement with iGo, and since the third-year option went into effect after the two severed business ties, he says he doesn’t owe a dime after that. 

According to The Blast, in addition to Hart’s response filing, he also counter-sued the company for allegedly using his name and likeness on their website without permission – demanding unspecified damages. He also wants the initial lawsuit tossed, and an injunction against the company for still using his image to market themselves.
