Donald Trump is facing backlash after he referred to the reports on the mass shooting in a Pittsburgh synagogue as #fakenews in a tweet.

Early morning on Oct. 31, Trump tweeted about his visit to Pittsburgh. Last Saturday, a mass shooting in a Squirrel Hill synagogue by an anti-Semite left 11 people dead. In the tweet, Trump wrote, “Melania and I were treated very nicely yesterday in Pittsburgh. The Office of the President was shown great respect on a very sad & solemn day.” He added “We were treated so warmly. Small protest was not seen by us, staged far away. The Fake News stories were just the opposite – Disgraceful!”

During Trump’s visit, a few thousand protesters showed up to give their support for the families and friends who were impacted by the incident. While there, Trump placed stones on an outdoor memorial, and Melania added flowers for the flowers. Candles were also lit for the dead at the Tree of Life Congregation. Trump and Melania were not formally welcomed by officials, and those who were invited to join them on the flight to Pittsburgh declined the offer, according to Deadline.

Some celebs responded to Trump’s failure to acknowledge the families and friends who were harmed. Actress #MiaFarrow tweeted, “No thought for the victims? the first responders? the families? a grieving community? a grieving nation?”
