⠀Boston Celtics’ Terry Rozier has been slapped with a lawsuit for selling his own “Scary Terry” merchandise using the classic mask from the 1996 thriller, “Scream.”
In court documents obtained The Blast, Fun World costume company says they are the originator of the “Ghost Face Mask,” and licensed it decades ago for use in the iconic film and others.
The company says although the “Ghost Face Mask has become widely famous and remains a popular Halloween costume mask,” the Boston Celtics player is using their design without permission, claiming he has, “adopted the Ghost Face Mask design as his own mascot and paired the design with his alter ego ‘Scary Terry.’”
As a result, the company wants Rozier to pay up, as it is suing for unspecified damages plus $150,000 per infringement. In addition to that, the company wants a judge to cease all future sales of the “Scary Terry” merchandise.
