#BlackGirlMagic: Marsai Martin To Be Youngest Executive Producer In History!

“Blackish” star Marsai Martin is set to be the youngest executive producer in history.

Martin’s talent has stretched beyond the hit ABC show “Black-ish” and has moved her on to creating and starring in her own films. The trailer for “Little,” which stars Issa Rae and Regina Hall was just released and gives us a glimpse into Martin’s new production. “Little” tells the story of Jasmine Sanders, a tech entrepreneur, whose arrogant behavior gets her cursed by a little girl. The spell turns Jordan back into her 13-year-old self (Martin).

Martin, 14, said the idea from the film was inspired by Tom Hanks’ 1988 film “Big.” “It was one of my most favorite films growing up,” she said. “After the [season one] finale of Black-ish, we told Kenya Barris about it, and he called Will [Packer] and said: ‘Yo, you know the girl who plays Diane on Black-ish? She has this dope idea,’” Martin said in an interview with The Root. Packer who produced hit films like “Ride Along” and “Girls Trip” said he immediately signed on after seeing Martin’s maturity, highlighting that she pitched the idea to the studio. Regina Hall will also serve as the films executive producer.

In celebration, Martin took to Twitter and thanked those who believed in her idea. “So happy to finally be able to share the trailer, so proud of the things accomplished since we started this and eternally grateful to you guys for listening when others didn’t take us seriously,” she wrote.

Congrats Marsai!
