Heads Up! A London-based company named Synamedia is planning to launch an Artificial Intelligence-based tracing service to crack down on the sharing of your Netflix password.

According to reports, the service was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics 2019 Show (CES) in Las Vegas.  The video software provider, Synamedia, has dubbed the program ‘Credentials Sharing Insights,’ which will figure out which users have logged in to which accounts and quickly flag any shared ones.

It will reportedly use behavioral analytics and machine learning to check up on credentials sharing activity. The new technology will let the operator specify specifically how many people should be using one account and will then monitor the subscriber database for any fraudulent activity.

Synamedia’s new invention is reportedly aimed at the estimated 26 percent of millennials who share their Netflix credentials for video streaming with their friends. But the software won’t just crack down on the little guys, the company intends to empower Pay TV operators and video streaming websites in tracking large –scale for-profit operations as well.

Synamedia’s chief product officer Jean-Marc Racine told Variety that the focus was on “friends and family ‘taking their [users’] generosity a bit too far.”

Without this impending crackdown, The Streaming media industry could stand to lose as much as $9.9 billion due to password sharing by the year 2021.
