Thanks to Queen Latifah and Lifetime, two new music-themed miniseries are coming; one centered around female rap stars Salt-N-Pepa, and the other focused on gospel group, The Clark Sisters. Both projects are produced by Queen Latifah’s ‘Flavor Unit‘.

The Salt N Pepa miniseries, executive produced by Jesse Collins, Queen Latifah, and Shakim Compere, revolves around Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton and their hip hop beginnings in the 1990s. The show will also feature some of Salt-N-Pepa’s most iconic songs like “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “Whatta Man,” “Shoop,” and “Push It.”

“The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel,” is a scripted project executive produces by Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige and Missy Elliott, which is the story of five sisters and a trailblazing mother from Detroit who helped bring gospel music to the mainstream. The film is written by Sylvia L. Jones and directed by Christine Swanson.

Lifetime has ordered a number of other new network projects, including the documentary film series “Hopelessly In Love.” The series is a two-hour film tracing the tragic love stories of some of the world’s most famous couples like Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans, Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Andre Rison and others.
