As the world still mourns the death of Grammy-nominated rapper and humanitarian Nipsey Hussle, Hussle’s family is continuing his life’s work, making community initiative plans a top priority.

Hussle was known for his devotion to his Crenshaw neighborhood, and according to TMZ, he had plans of creating a foundation, “designed to improve the quality of life in his community.”

The overall goal of his efforts were to develop STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) programs in underserved schools and continue to rebuild playgrounds and public parks in Crenshaw.

TMZ reports that Hussle’s community work was far from unnoticed. Hussle was even scheduled to meet with LAPD to stop gang violence a few days before his murder.

LA City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson spoke highly of the rapper. Harris-Dawson recalled Hussle donating shoes to students at a local, 59th Street Elementary and fixing the school’s basketball courts.

At the time of his death last month, Hussle had a total of 14 known businesses, including his Marathon Clothing store. Located at the newly named, Nipsey Hussle Square, which is previously the intersection of Slauson and Crenshaw, the rapper would provide job opportunities at his store to members of his community in need of employment.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Sources close to Hussle’s family say that they are currently in talks of an official name for the foundation, but have yet to release an official statement.
