Kroger Asks Customers Not To Openly Carry Guns In Their Stores

Supermarket chain Kroger is now following Walmart’s lead by asking customers to stop openly carrying guns in their stores. 

The announcement comes just hours after Walmart made a similar announcement, adding that they would end the sales of some firearms and ammunition. Both moves come in the wake of recent mass shootings across the U.S.

Kroger already stopped selling guns last year, but recently released a statement from their group Vice President of corporate affairs, Jessica Adelman, requesting customers refrain from openly carrying guns in their stores. 

“Kroger is respectfully asking that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores, other than authorized law enforcement officers,” Adelman said. 

As a representative of Ohio based supermarket chain Adelman, the company added that it is also joining Walmart in “encouraging our elected leaders to pass laws that will strengthen background checks and remove weapons from those who have been found to pose a risk for violence.”
