Brandon T. Jackson over Big Mama House

Actor Brandon T. Jackson says God has “forgiven” him for playing a gay man in the hit film “Tropic Thunder” and says wearing a dress in the 2011 film “Big Momma’s House: Like Father, Like Son” ruined his career.

During an interview with Comedy Hype, Jackson claimed that the “negative” transition in his career came after he dressed as a woman in “Big Momma’s House: Like Father, Like Son.” “Everything went wrong when I put on that dress,” he said. “It was a negative changing point, to be honest… My personal life was in shambles at that time. It was horrible.”

The 35-year-old said that he felt the film wasn’t good. “First of all, no offense, the movie wasn’t that good, to me,” he said. “It wasn’t a prolific film. I sound so mean, like, ‘You should be grateful for it,’ but I’m real. It wasn’t the best movie. It was an entertaining film.” He added that he “did it purely for the money and to work with Martin Lawrence.”

He noted that he felt “the whole dress bit was already overdone,” and stressed that “you couldn’t pay the ‘awakened Brandon’ a trillion dollars” to repeat the decision.” Jackson said he believes the film “was cursed because nothing went right since then.” The actor says that by wearing the dress, he broke religious law. “And, when you break a law, you get punished.”

In another interview, with TMZ, Jackson said he was was on “thin ice” with God for playing a gay character in “Tropic Thunder.” Jackson played the character “Alpa Chino,” a closeted actor who eventually expressed his feelings for a man named “Lance.” Jackson is now a Black Hebrew Israelite and said the role almost got him in trouble with the Lord. “I was on thin ice then with the father,” Jackson said on “TMZ Live” … “But, he had his mercy, and his grace was there.”
