Billy Cosby’s Publicist Slams Harvey Weinstein Verdict: “If The MeToo Movement Isn’t Just About Becky, I Would Challenge MeToo And Ask Them To Go Back 400+ Years”

On Monday, after more than 26 hours of deliberation, Harvey Weinstein was convicted on two of five charges, including rape in the third degree.

The verdict stemmed from testimonies by Jessica Mann and Mimi Haley, which left Weinstein facing five to 25 years in prison for first-degree rape against Mann and one count of criminal sex act against Haley. However, the charges and longstanding allegations, which reignited the MeToo Movement, came after more than 80 women accused the movie mogul of sexual harassment and assault.

While many rejoiced the verdict, marking it a new day for justice against sexual abusers, one man, who was recently convicted of similar crimes, opposed.

Shortly after the verdict, Bill Cosby’s publicist took to the comedian’s social media accounts to share his thoughts, marking it a “sad day in the American judicial system” for rich men with power.

“This is not shocking because these jurors were not sequestered, which gave them access to media coverage and the sentiments of public opinion,” Cosby’s publicist, Andrew Wyatt said of the seven men and five women on the jury. “There’s no way you would have anyone believe that Mr. Weinstein was going to receive a fair and impartial trial. Also, this judge showed that he wanted a conviction by sending the jurors back to deliberate after they were hung on many of the counts,” he added, though the jurors revealed they were hung on the most serious counts of predatory sexual assault and first-degree rape, for which Weinstein was acquitted.

“Here’s the question that should haunt all Americans, especially wealthy and famous men,” Wyatt added. “Where do we go in this country to find fairness and impartiality in the judicial system, and where do we go in this country to find Due Process?”

“Lastly, if the #metoo movement isn’t just about Becky [White women], I would challenge #metoo and ask them to go back 400+ years and tarnish the names of those oppressors that raped slaves. This is a very sad day in the American Judicial System.”
