As the world continues to adjust to the changes in day-to-day activities, different organizations and businesses are continuously making adjustments and decisions to benefit their employees during the coronavirus outbreak.
Now, according to Yahoo Sports, sources have revealed that the National Basketball League and National Basketball Players Association have reached an agreement to refrain from drug testing players during this time.
Normally, each player is subjected to “six random unannounced urine drug tests during each season and off-season,” the article reports. However, the league has decided to forgo testing, during the league’s suspension.
This agreement is, however, temporary.
Drugs banned from the NBA include Marijuana, steroids, heroin, cocaine, and performance-enhancing drugs, to name a few.
The CBA states that players that test positive for “drugs of abuse” are “banned” from the league for a two-year minimum. Players that test positive for “performance-enhancing substances” are suspended for 25 games following a first violation, 55 games after a second violation, and suspended from the league for a two-year minimum shall a third violation arise.
