Tiffany Haddish says she and the rest of the Girls Trip cast have gotten together online to discuss the film’s sequel.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Haddish explained that she Jada Pinkett-Smith, Queen Latifah, and Regina Hall called one another via the app Zoom and had a two-hour convo initially about the coronavirus pandemic. However, the friendly phone call turned into a discussion all about Girls Trip 2.

The movie was distributed through Universal Pictures back in 2017 and told the story of four successful Black women with complicated lives who decide to rekindle their friendships by taking a girls’ trip to New Orleans. The film shattered the narrative that Black female-led films couldn’t break box-office records, cashing in $140 million in the North American box office. This movie was also Haddish’s breakout role that solidified her career as an actor and comedian in Hollywood.

Queen Latifah says the girls are all in for a sequel. “Everybody’s in, Everybody’s down for number two …so we’re just waiting for a script,” she said last May. As for a storyline, Haddish says Girls Trip co-writer Tracy Oliver is already working on something. “Then it was like, ‘Oh, you guys want too much money,'” Haddish said. The film was co-written by Oliver and “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris.

Haddish said she and the ladies have also decided to work together on a script, planning their next meeting for Friday. “We might decide not to even make it Girls Trip,” Haddish said. “Maybe we’ll do a different story just in case no one wants to make Girls Trip 2.” Latifah said viewers might catch the cast taking a trip to South Africa in the next movie. “I’ve been throwing Rio [de Janeiro] from the beginning … definitely down with South Africa, too,” she told People Now.
