“The Parent Trap” Actor Dennis Quaid Says Trump is “Doing A Good Job” Handling The Coronavirus Pandemic

Actor Dennis Quaid, who is ironically an advocate for patient safety, is raising some eyebrows after a recent interview with Daily Beast’s Marlow Stern. When asked how he felt the Trump administration was handling the coronavirus pandemic, he answered Trump is “doing a great job.”

Quaid started a tense back and forth with the journalist when he said during the interview, “Well, to tell you the truth, I think the president is handling it in a good way. We see him on television every day. He’s involved.” He quickly added that he was an independent and has voted for Republicans and Democrats throughout his lifetime.

According to HuffPost, Stern then asked a follow-up question about states lacking medical supplies. Quaid replied, “I think Trump, no matter what anybody thinks of him, is doing a good job at trying to get these states — and all of the American people — what they need, and also trying to hold our economy together and be prepared for when this is all over. I don’t want to get into petty arguments about it.”

Quaid also added, “You know, the world has never experienced this, and I don’t think it’s a time to be political. I think it’s just time to get behind our government and have everybody do what they can. If you want to point blame after, that’s another story, but right now, I think we all just really need to come together on this.”

The actor also shared that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is doing a great job for the way he is handling the crisis in his state. He went on further to say his heart “goes out to everyone.”

After the interview went public, Twitter users chimed in with their many opinions. Quaid even began to trend online as he received both harsh criticism and favorable support.

A recent Associated Press report stated that the federal government wasted valuable months not efficiently preparing for the coronavirus: “A review of federal purchasing contracts by The Associated Press shows federal agencies largely waited until mid-March to begin placing bulk orders of N95 respirator masks, mechanical ventilators and other equipment needed by front-line health care workers.”

The Washington Post reported that The Trump Administration got the “most unambiguous warning” on the COVID-19 outbreak in China on Jan. 3. But recent reports reveal that the government’s been aware since November.
