R. Kelly Says He Should Be Released From Jail Because He Can’t Contact His Accusers, Including Aaliyah

R. Kelly is still trying to get out of jail, and this time he says he won’t get in any trouble because there’s no way for him to contact his accusers, including late singer Aaliyah.

Kelly’s legal team has been trying to get their client out of jail, and their latest attempt is a letter they wrote a judge explaining why Kelly won’t be a threat to society if released. The document comes as a follow-up to their previous letter requesting a judge release the former singer to avoid the possibility of him contracting COVID-19.

In the letter, Steven Greenberg and Michael Leonard, told a judge there are six alleged victims in Kelly’s federal case out of the Eastern District of New York. One of those victims they mention is Aaliyah, who was killed in a tragic plane crash in 2001. Kelly’s legal duo highlighted that she has passed away, which means Kelly can’t contact her.

In the document, Greenberg and Leonard say prosecutors only named two other accusers as Jane Doe, TMZ reports. Because of that, the two men argue that they can’t identify the other alleged victims. They say prosecutors have only identified one other accuser by a photo and that they don’t know who that person is. In addition, the lawyers say two the last two women, including Azriel Clary, have both taken to social media and expressed their disgust for Kelly.

For all these reasons, the two attorneys explain that Kelly will act appropriately if released because he has no other option. A judge has already denied two of Kelly’s requests to be let go.
