Pro-police counter-protesters and Black Lives Matter demonstrators joined forces to chase off a small group of men that were wearing the white hoods of the Ku Klux Klan and carrying Trump flags who tried to interrupt their peaceful rallies in Nevada.
The video has emerged, showing the exact moment protestors from both sides came together to chant against men who showed up at the demonstration on Monday. In the clip, it shows one officer going to talk to the men in white hoods while protestors chant “No Trump, No KKK, No racist, fascist USA.” The clip ends with both men, who appear to be turning and walking away from the protest after the officer has spoken to them.
A pro-police demonstrator, Max Ryan, hugged BLM protest leader Ladaysha Dula, at the site. Max said, “We all want peace. Yes, we do”, according to KTVN. Ryan was at the demonstration with a gun to show his support for his Second Amendment rights, and to also ensure that the protests did not turn violent. “What ended up transpiring, I don’t think either one of us saw happening. The parties came across each other’s line, and they said they come in peace,” he said. “So I said if you come in peace, then give me a hug. And the next thing I know, we were having a civilized conversation, educating each other. It’s kind of amazing what one hug can do sometimes.”
