Dojo Cat is back in the spotlight after announcing that she has contracted COVID-19 during an interview on Capital XTRA.
On Friday, the “Say So” artist, who was born Amalaratna Zandile Dlamini, opened up about her experience with the coronavirus and how she has since recovered from the virus after previously stating that she was not “scared” of it.
“I got COVID. Honestly, I don’t know how this happens but I guess I ordered something off of Postmates and… I don’t know how I got it but I got it,” she shared.
Doja Cat continued by saying that she is feeling “okay” after having a “four day freak out.”
Months earlier, the artist went on Instagram Live and talked about the coronavirus pandemic, claiming that she wasn’t “scared” of COVID-19 and that the virus was only the “flu.”
“I’m gonna get corona and then I’m gonna get a Corona, cause I don’t give a f*ck about corona, b*tch. It’s a flu!” she said on her live.
This isn’t Doja Cat’s first rodeo with making headlines after being called out for using a racist slur in the title of a resurfaced 2015 song.
“I want to address what’s been happening on Twitter,” Doja Cat wrote on her Instagram. “I’ve used public chat rooms to socialize since I was a child. I shouldn’t have been on some of those chat room sites, but I personally have never been involved in any racist conversations. I’m sorry to everyone I offended.”
Doja Cat added, “I am a black woman. Half of my family is black from South Africa and I’m very proud of where I come from.”
