Monica Teams Up With Kim Kardashian to Help Free C-Murder From Prison

Monica is makin’ ‘em say #FreeCoreyMiller.

Monica has officially reignited efforts to Free C-Murder, but this time, she’s enlisted help from Kim Kardashian.

On Sunday, both Monica and Kim took to social media to share the rapper’s story, who was sentenced to life in prison for the 2009 murder of 16-year-old Steve Thomas.

For years, Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, has maintained his innocence, but with new evidence and recanted testimonies, Kim Kardashian is taking on the case to get justice for both Thomas and Miller.

“On January 18, 2002, a tragedy occurred when a young man was killed,” Kim Kardashian wrote. “The next day, Corey Miller was arrested for the Murder. The jury convicted Corey 10-2, and he was sentenced to life in prison. If his trial was today, the jury would have had to be unanimous for him to be convicted.”

As Kardashian continued, she detailed the discrepancies in Miller’s case, saying, “Since his trial, witnesses have recanted, new evidence of his potential innocence has come to light, and there are claims of jurors being pressured into voting to convict.”

She also apologized for reopening old wounds, but insisted that “True justice for the young man requires that the person who actually killed him be held responsible and that Corey Miller be returned home to his kids.”

In 2009, the NAACP in Louisiana called for an investigation into C-Murder’s trial after a juror named Mary Jacobs admitted to voting guilty due to the “brutal” pressure from other jurors. She also said they pressured a disabled 20-year-old to vote guilty as well.

At that time, according to Complex, C Murder appealed his conviction, but the decision was upheld. In 2018, a key witness for the prosecution filed a sworn affidavit, saying, “I know the individual that I saw shoot the gun was not Corey Miller.”

The witness, Kenneth Jordan, claimed he was coerced and pressured to lie under oath to avoid a 10-year sentence in an unrelated case.

C-Murder’s case also regained spotlight in the wake of the No Limit Chronicles documentary, which featured his rise to fame alongside his older brother, Master P.
