Los Angeles Laker star and Akron, Ohio native LeBron James praises the contributions of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after Trump called for a ban against the company.
After the Lakers win against the Portland Trailblazers, James made a statement about Goodyear and how the company positively impacts his hometown.
“I know my people of Akron and what Goodyear means to our city. One thing about us, we don’t bend, fold or break for nobody. Shout out and salute to all the workers.”
On Wednesday, Trump called upon his allies and supporters to boycott the tire company for the company’s supposed ban against his infamous “Make America Great Again” red hats, which have been a staple of his presidency.
Sean Wheat of WIBW in Topeka, Kansas reported on an image that was purportedly at a Goodyear plant that outlined approved and prohibited political messages by employees to wear at work, the Bleacher Report reported.
The company has since issued a statement on the matter saying, “Yesterday Goodyear became the focus of a conversation that created some misconceptions about our policies and our company. Goodyear has always wholeheartedly supported both equality and law enforcement and will continue to do so” and said the “visual in question was not created or distributed by Goodyear corporate, nor was it part of a diversity training class.”
James has publicly shared his frustration with Trump after calling him a “bum” while defending Steph Curry, who turned down an invitation to the White House to celebrate the Warriors 2017 championship title.
James has also recently stated that he doesn’t think the basketball community are sad about losing Trump as a game watcher after he said that watching players kneel during the national anthem made him turn the games off.
James and other players were seen donned in a modified red “mega” hat that instead said, “Make America Arrest The Cops That Killed Breonna Taylor.”
I’m sure Trump was red hot in the Oval Office or the golf course when he saw this.
James recently took the time to address a digital political campaign ad for misconstructing one of his tweets regarding voter suppression.
“Nobody should be able to use my name (or anyone else name) to lie and deceive about the election.”
According to ESPN, the Washington Post wrote about a website called Protect My Vote that evidently was circulating ads on Facebook that claim mail-in voting is unreliable.
One of the posts on Facebook included a June tweet by James in which he called polling closures in Kentucky, a sign of “SYSTEMATIC RACISM and OPPRESSION.” However, the post twists the original tweet by trying to link James’ tweet to the closures of the expansion of mail-in voting ahead of this year’s general election.
James’ long time advisor Adam Mendelsohn called the ads “shameless” and “reprehensible.” James posted on Friday that he is going to see what he can do legally about the matter.
First of all, Everyone needs to know the kind of BS happening about this election and get organized. This is exactly why we coming together for @morethanavote misinformation=suppression!https://t.co/4I5qGux4I7
