There has been a spike in coronavirus cases in children across the U.S.
At least 61,000 children tested positive for COVID-19 in the last week of October, according to data Monday by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association.
The AAP said in a statement that the cases rose in children at “unprecedented levels” and last week’s numbers are “larger than any previous week in the pandemic.”
Overall there were about 200,000 new cases in children during October and since the pandemic began, 853,000 children have tested positive.
