Alex Trebek Passes Away At The Age Of 80 After Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis

Legendary ‘Jeopardy!’ host, Alex Trebek, has passed away at the age of 80.

A spokesperson from ‘Jeopardy!’ tells TMZ, “Jeopardy is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends.”

According to the publication, Trebek was surrounded by family and friends at his home.

Back in March 2019, Trebek announced that he was battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. After his diagnosis, the tv show host began chemotherapy immediately and had no plans of retiring from the game show. Trebek continued to host the show, and fans were surprised at his strength.

In August, Alex announced that he had completed all of his chemotherapy treatments and announced that he was “on the mend.”

“I’ve gone through a lot of chemotherapy, and thankfully that is now over,” he said. “I’m on the mend, and that’s all I can hope for right now.”

Alex Trebek took over our homes in 1984 when he became the game show host of ‘Jeopardy!’ becoming a household name over the nearly 40 years that he starred on the series.

He has won 6 Daytime Emmy Awards for outstanding game show host and set a Guinness World record in June 2014 for most episodes (6,829) of a game show hosted.
