It seems as though the biggest players in the league have all been sidelined by some sort of injury at least once this season. The latest on that list for the fourth time is Kevin Durant. The reigning MVP will undergo a second procedure on his recovering foot which he broke in October. After missing only 16 games in the first seven years of his career, KD has sat his 29th game this season and will miss at least a week more.
According to the Thunder’s general manager Sam Presti, the procedure is minor and would be to reduce some pain and discomfort. The problem is coming from a screw that was inserted during the first surgery, which is now irritating another bone in KD’s foot. Presti made sure to note that there is no new injury.
KD’s procedure probably couldn’t have come at a worst time, as the Thunder have finally just entered the 8th seed of the playoff bracket. The team that has been amongst the front runners in the West in previous seasons, suffered a rough start with both KD and Russell Westbrook out with injuries.
The Thunder beat the Denver Nuggets 119-94 on Sunday and are still in the 8th spot.
Kevin Durant will be further reviewed in one week but is expected to return this season.
