The NBA is issuing its second round of grants for programs within the Black community to help create jobs and career advancement.

This grant is a part of the NBA’s commitment to put $300 million into underserved Black communities. The $3 million grant will go directly to nine organizations, including New York-based New Heights Youth, Road to Hire, City Year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, and Memphis-based CodeCrew.

The NBA outlined how the funds will help to provide jobs to African Americans.

“The grants will enhance and build upon the important work of these national and local organizations that align with the NBA Foundation’s mission to provide skills training, mentorship, coaching and pipeline development for high school, college-aged, job-ready and mid-career individuals in Black communities across the United States and Canada,” the league said in a statement.

Following the Black Lives Matter demonstrations of 2020, the NBA vowed to pump funds into African American causes to bridge the economic gap between Blacks and their white counterparts.

In December, the association made its first installment of grants that went towards organizations such as the Operation DREAM, Marcus Graham Project, and Management Leadership for Tomorrow.
