There’s been a recall of packaged salad greens due to possible Salmonella contamination.
According to Fox Business, eight people reported becoming ill after consuming packaged greens at stores in four different states, including Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana. The greens was produced by BrightFarms, who voluntarily recalled them “out of an abundance of caution” after “being notified of illnesses among eight consumers, some of whom purchased or consumed the above products during June,” according to a recall notice.
BrightFarms, located at an indoor farm in Rochelle, Illinois, said the recall was for nine products. The news outlet reports that the greens were shipped out to various grocery stores and markets, including Mariano’s Fresh Markets, Walmart locations, Strack Van Till, Sullivan’s Foods, Caputo’s, Jewel-Osco, and others. The notice advised stores that may have the contaminated lettuce to “remove all affected products from store shelves.”
The recall includes the below salad products packaged in clear, plastic clamshells with “best by” dates through 7/29/2021:
- BrightFarms NutrigreensTM (3 oz. package)
- BrightFarms Butter Crisp TM (4 oz. Package)
