On Thursday, Lil Durk tweeted that he would no longer say the names of those who’ve died in his songs or perform songs with those names.

Durk and other Chicago rappers are known to taunt the dead in their music. On “Still Trappin,” a 2020 song Durk made with the late King Von, the chorus mentions Tooka, the nickname of a Chicago gang member who was shot and killed at a bus stop in 2012.
In January, the rapper vowed then that he would stop name-dropping the dead, saying, “I’m done name dropping the dead after my deluxe ….in songs only tho.”
Only time will tell.
