Police found hundreds of recall election ballots in a vehicle with a felon.
The Torrance Police Department has launched an investigation after finding a passed-out felon with approximately 300 recall election ballots, drugs, a loaded gun, and several driver’s licenses in a vehicle. On Monday, police said they discovered the suspect a week ago.
According to KTLA, the felon was inside the car at a 7-Eleven parking lot on Aug. 16. Inside the suspect’s vehicle were a loaded gun, meth, numerous pieces of mail, credit cards, California driver’s licenses, and Xanax pills. The licenses and credit cards were all in other people’s names.
Torrance Police arrested the man for several crimes, including weapons, narcotics, and forgery violations, KTLA reports. The United States Postal Service and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Offices Public Integrity Unit are working together on the case.
“Investigators are trying to figure out how the election ballots ended up in the suspect’s vehicle and what their intent was in having them. This is an isolated incident and is not related to any additional thefts of election ballots,” said police in a statement.
