New York Attorney General's Statement On Cannabis Snacks

New York‘s attorney general is sending out a warning about snack products that have “dangerously high concentrations of THC.”

These days marijuana can be consumed in a variety of ways other than smoking it. Some prefer to dab, use a bong, and others prefer to infuse their foods with cannabis. To cater to those who prefer to take in their cannabis through edible snacks and meals, cannabis companies have created packaging that emulates candies, foods, and various treats. These items are typically sold at cannabis shops.

Now, New York’s attorney general Letitia James is warning people and parents to check their snacks closely as they might actually have cannabis in them.

“These unregulated and deceptive cannabis products will only confuse and harm New Yorkers, which is why they have no place in our state,” James said in the press release. She added that cannabis products that look like regular foods are illegal in the state.

The press release showed images of packaged snacks to look like everyday treats, like Sour Patch Kids, Cheeto Puffs, Doritos, and more.

“New York parents should be on the alert for deceptive cannabis products that look like standard snacks and candy but contain dangerously high concentrations of THC,” James tweeted.

THC candy is not cheap. I can’t imagine anyone passing that stuff out to little kids. So I have to wonder if that attorney general is basing his information on facts.
