Only in Atlanta.
An Uber driver said he received a fake parking citation while picking up a customer’s order in Buckhead.
Luke Waters told Fox 5 Atlanta he briefly parked in the Buckhead Marketplace lot on West Paces Ferry Road on Sunday and returned to a parking ticket on his vehicle.
“ATL Citations” was the company name listed on the citation. The dupe citation also listed an officer’s name and a description of Waters’ vehicle.
After looking up the company name and address online, Waters said he decided to go pay the ticket in person. He drove to the northwest Atlanta address which ended up being a car repair shop. The people at the shop told Walters they were unfamiliar with the company listed on the citation.
“I went in there, and they had no idea what it was. They had never heard of it,” he said.
Using the QR code on the citation, Waters was led to the web address “atlcitations.com” which lists an address, phone number, and a place for people to enter payment information. What’s more, the site even encouraged those who received the ticket to pay the ticket in person.
Fox 5 News reached out to the Atlanta Department of Transportation who told the outlet the ticket was bogus and that its tickets never have a QR code.
