ESPN reports, NFLPA voted Friday, September 12th,  to implement testing for human growth hormone (HGH) for the 2014 NFL season. Originally HGH testing was agreed upon in 2011, but players have been unwilling to accept testing and the appeals process for positive tests.
Some players had also complained that the NFL threshold of 15 nanograms per milliliter for positive marijuana tests was so low that anyone within the vicinity of them smoking could cause them to test positive. Therefore, both sides agreed to increase the threshold to 35 ng/ml.
So how does this all affect previously penalized players?
Changes will be retroactive for players suspended under previous policies, as well as for those in the appeal process. So for those of you with fantasy football teams, thank the fantasy gawds. Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker and Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick will be eligible to return to their play Sunday. Whereas Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon’s yearlong suspension is reduced to 10 games.
