Across the nation, students are performing walkouts in protest over the Robb Elementary school mass shooting.
This week 19 students and two teachers were tragically murdered by 18-year-old Salvador Ramos at Robb Elementary Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Now, students around the country are protesting by staging walkouts over the heartwrenching event.
According to NBC News, the protests started at around 12 p.m. EST, some students who wore the color orange, which represents gun violence prevention in social activism, were seen outside of class marching alongside one another. NBC News reports the protests were put together by a group called Students Demand Action.
“I think there is something so devastating about 10-year-olds being killed, and students across the country are realizing this could have been any of us,” one of the students said during an interview, NBC News reports.
“It’s a shame lawmakers have not been listening to us,” said another student, NBC News reports.” Two years ago there was a threat at my high school, which turned out to be nothing. But for many of us it was the most frightening moment of our lives.”
