In the coming weeks, Sriracha sauce might be out of stock due to the weather.
A shortage of chili peppers is limiting Huy Fong Foods’ ability to produce several of its in-demand sauces, including Chili Garlic and Sambal Oelek.
According to the company, climate conditions contributed to the problem.

“We are still endeavoring to resolve this issue that has been caused by several spiraling events, including unexpected crop failure from the spring chili harvest,” Huy Fong Foods said in a statement. “We hope for a fruitful fall season and thank our customers for their patience and continued support during this difficult time.”

“Currently, due to weather conditions affecting the quality of chili peppers, we now face a more severe shortage of chili,” Huy Fong Foods warned in an April 19 letter posted on a food distribution website.
Mexico and the Westen United States are experiencing a drought where the chili peppers are originally sourced from.
Any orders placed after April 19 would not be delivered until after Labor Day. According to Huy Fong Foods, the company would not accept any new orders before September.
Throughout the pandemic, the global food supply has been hit by disruptions, which have been amplified by record inflation and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Earlier this month, the USDA announced that it will assist and solve a range of concerns affecting the supply chain from farm to shelf.
