Following several recent shootings in its downtown area, Las Vegas is considering imposing a curfew for those under 21.
According to Fox5, Mayor Carolyn Goodman made the announcement a day after a gunman shot and wounded another man in front of the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Vegas early on Monday.
“[The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department] and our city marshals have committed to an increase in law enforcement presence,” Goodman tweeted. “Our City Attorney will prosecute violators to the fullest, and we’re exploring a curfew for those under 21.”
It has not been revealed what the ages of the men involved in the Independence Day shooting are, but the gunman in the earlier shooting is 16 years old.
According to Fox5, the teen is accused of shooting a 23-year-old man to death and injuring a bystander at the Fremont Street Experience on June 19.
The city of Las Vegas already has a curfew of 10 p.m. on weeknights and midnight on weekends for those under 18 years of age.
