Pennsylvania High Schoolers Charged In Football Hazing After A Disturbing Video Surfaced Of Them Sexually Assaulting Their Teammates

Ten Pennsylvania teenagers face charges after being responsible for connections to a hazing incident.

In August, a disturbing video circulated on social media showing football players at Middletown Area High School assaulting three of their teammates during practice.

According to investigators, the assault happened within 23 minutes and without adult supervision.

The school district’s superintendent Chelton Hunter shared details of the footage in a letter to parents.

“Cell phone video, taken by players, shows a group of students restraining two of their teammates,” he said. “Using a muscle therapy gun and another piece of athletic equipment to poke the buttock areas of the students who were on the ground. The video shows players fully clothed. It did not appear that any student’s body was physically penetrated. The video is difficult to watch as this is a completely unacceptable, offensive, and highly inappropriate act.”

The district attorney’s office also learned that three other student-athletes experienced the same assault during the past year. Authorities believe that one of those assaults occurred at a residential home. Police says all of the victims involved were between the age of 14-16.

“We are addressing this matter with the utmost sense of urgency,” Hunter says. “To ensure that our school environment is free from behaviors that are meant to demean, humiliate or harm other students.”

Hunter adds that once the investigations are finish, “the District will be working to develop additional protocols and supports to promote a positive school climate and culture for all students.”

Following the incident, the district officials canceled the team’s football season with the head coach resigning days later.

Two students received charges of criminal attempt to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, unlawful restraint, simple assault, and hazing. The other defendants received unlawful restraint, simple assault, and hazing charges.
