The University of Southern California has renamed its track and field to honor Olympic medalist Allyson Felix.
On Wednesday, USC announced that its popular Cromwell Field would be receiving a name change. The field that sits at the center of Katherine B. Loker Track Stadium and welcomes many athletic activities is now known as the “Allyson Felix Field.”
“My hope is that students playing on the Allyson Felix Field or just walking by, will see her name prominently displayed and be curious to learn more about her talent, grit and generosity,” USC President Carol Folt said.

Felix enrolled as a student at USC in 2003 and received an honorary doctorate of humane letters in 2007. During her time at the college, Felix was already a professional athlete and became one of the greatest track stars in Olympic history. Felix has earned 11 medals throughout her 20-year running career, including bronze and gold medals won with U.S. relay teams at the World Athletics Championships.
In more recent news, Felix will present the 2022 commencement speech at USC’s graduation. Despite never competing for the university, Felix said she was “raised a Trojan.”
“It’s such a huge honor to be a part of history in the campus. And it’s such a special place for me,” Felix said.
USC will hold a formal dedication ceremony for the unveiling later in the spring.
