The two brothers involved in Jussie Smollet’s hoax crime will open up about the incident in a new docuseries.
Fox Nation is set to release a five-part documentary series called “Jussie Smollett: Anatomy of a Hoax.” According to Fox Nation Executive VP John Finley, the series will take “a deep dive into a scam that reverberated through the worlds of entertainment, pop culture and politics.”
The series will feature conversations with Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, the siblings who were at the forefront of the incident. The brothers testified during Smollett’s trial that they were recruited by the actor to execute the orchestrated assault.
The announcement comes shortly after Smollett’s legal representatives filed a request for a complete retrial in his case last week.
“In the present case, instances of prosecutorial misconduct were clear and egregious,” the court documents read. “Mr. Smollett’s constitutional rights to due process and to a fair trial were denied by prosecutorial misconduct including allegations that a defense witness was pressured to change his statement. And shifting the burden during closing arguments.”
Last year, Smollet was sentenced to 150 days in Cook County prison and 30 months of probation for a felony offense for fabricating a false hate crime and disorderly conduct. In addition, he was ordered to compensate the city of Chicago for $120,106 and received a $25,000 fine.
“We still have a long battle ahead of us,” Smollet’s lawyer said following his release. “Everyone should please, please, please pray. We need to fight, we need the support we got. Everyone helped in this fight, all the calls of support, the video, the sharing on social media, everyone contributed to this big win today. So right now, we won round two. We want to win the remaining round and we need, we need your help and support.”
