A pizza accidentally delivered to the wrong Detroit home was the catalyst for a shootout that injured five people, including two teenagers.
FOX 2 reports that a pizza was ordered to be delivered to a home on Penrod Street. However, the pizza was accidentally delivered to a neighboring house. The people that received the delivery proceeded to eat the pizza.
When the people who ordered the food realized what had happened, they confronted the neighbors. An argument broke out, and gunfire erupted. Police believe as many as 30 rounds were fired.
Five people were injured during the shootout, including two 14-year-old boys. One of the teenage victims was shot in the face, while the other suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Additionally, an 18-year-old was shot in the hand, a 31-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and a 32-year-old man was hit in the leg. All the victims were transported to local hospitals and considered stable.
“We had parents showing up in tears, not knowing if their child was safe,” Quincy Smith, with Ceasefire Detroit, told the outlet. “The community needs to understand this isn’t normal. We shouldn’t get used to hearing a 14-year-old is dead; a 14-year-old got killed, a 14-year-old got shot.”
Ten people were apprhended at the scene, and all but one person was released. Police say that one of the victims that were shot might have been a shooter.
