Floyd “Money” Mayweather is used to spending big bucks on his lavish lifestyle, but this time, he may have outdone himself.
The boxing champ recently traveled to South Africa for a vacation and spent a few million dollars in a Gucci boutique. The 46-year-old was seen with his entourage inside the Sandton City, Johannesburg store. Cameras swarmed Mayweather as he exited the designer store. Though he held no bags, he reportedly dropped $7 million during his short time in the location. The shopping spree was so lavish that armed security guards had to escort him out of the building. The semi-retired boxer has long been a fan of the Italian brand. So much so that in 2019 when Black shoppers boycotted Gucci due to a sweater that resembled blackface, Mayweather ignored the strike. When approached about his stance on the issue, the renowned athlete let it be known he wasn’t a follower and would continue shopping wherever he pleased.
Mayweather had been in the region as of late for his “Motherland Tour,” according to the Daily Mail. It began on July 13th when he landed in Zimbabwe. Two days later, he held a charity dinner to raise money for young South African boxers who are a part of his Youth Empowerment Programme. It appears Mayweather wrapped up his stay on July 16th, shortly after his visit to Gucci.
It’s unclear what Mayweather may have purchased to run up such a hefty tab, but judging by his reported $450 million net worth, the money was a mere drop in the bucket.
