In a big announcement today, BET unveiled Keke Palmer — our favorite internet cousin — as the host for the much-anticipated “Soul Train Awards” 2023. This star-studded event, set to recognize the crème de la crème in Soul, R&B, and Hip Hop, will take place in Los Angeles, CA.
What’s unique about this show is its fresh take on the traditional award ceremony, promising an intimate and unforgettable night celebrating the best in soul music and the iconic Soul Train legacy. Brace yourselves for incredible performances by BJ The Chicago Kid, Coco Jones, Danté Bowe, Fridayy, Muni Long, SWV, and the fabulous Keke Palmer.
Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, expressed her excitement: “Keke Palmer is a globally recognized talent, radiating confidence and positivity. She’s one of the most engaging and lovable personalities in entertainment today. We’re thrilled to have her host the Soul Train Awards house party. BET was the platform for Keke’s first talk show, where she made history as the youngest talk show host on television. Today, we are honored to welcome her back to the ‘Soul Train Awards’ stage. Get ready for our signature lineup of soulful artists and can’t-miss moments, lighting up your screens for a night dedicated to soul music.”
Adding to the anticipation, the leading nominations feature the outstanding talents of Summer Walker, SZA, and Usher, all tied with a remarkable nine nods each, creating a historic three-way tie.
The official selection of nominees for the “Soul Train Awards” 2023 underwent a meticulous process, with a voting academy consisting of esteemed music industry insiders, performers, and presenters.
The highly awaited awards show is slated to premiere on Sunday, November 26, at 8 PM ET/PT on both BET and BET Her, promising an evening of unparalleled entertainment and celebration of soul music’s finest.
