The start of the NFL playoffs has been entertaining, to say the least. One game was delayed until Monday, but the weekend football balance that took place was full of excitement for NFL fans. Two games were played a day, resulting in upsets and slander and heated discussions. Let’s go over some of the biggest moments from the Super Wild Card Weekend.
The Cowboys Never Let The Haters Down
The Packers had the Cowboys at home with a 27-7 lead after halftime. However, as the game progressed, it was the same story and cycle for Dallas fans – a horror show. It has been 28 years since Jerry Jones has been able to push this team back to the Super Bowl. Jones expressed his disappointment to the media after the game, saying that this season’s ending was one of the most disappointing.

“I say this to our fans how much you deserve us to not have this ending. I certainly in no way have spent any of my time over the last three hours asking how and why,” Jerry Jones told the media after the game. “What I’m zeroed in on is the fact that I thought we were in a position, everybody in this room thought we were in a position to advance this thing in the playoffs and maybe get as far as our dreams might take us. We didn’t do it, I don’t have any thoughts about the reasons why or anything to do with the coaching anything to do about the players.”
Jones has kept a tight lip since their loss Saturday as Cowboys fans are calling for Dak Prescott to be traded after his poor first-half performance. The receivers didn’t help. The defense did not come to play. It felt like this game was over once Packers cornerback Darnell Savage intercepted the ball and returned it for a 64-yard touchdown.
It was a discouraging performance that will see players moving and coaches leaving as well. The Packers, with their future star Jordan Love, will travel to San Fransisco to take on the #1 seed 49ers. A matchup can be competitive, or it can get ugly quickly.
Hard-Fought Game Sees The Detroit Lions’ First Playoff Win in 33 Years
Fans were in tears as the most entertaining game from Super Wild Card weekend came to a close. The Detroit Lions won their first playoff game in over thirty years, edging out the opposing team by a single point, 24-23. This game was complimented by two quarterbacks who were traded from their prospective opponents on this night, and someone would act in revenge at the end of this one. Jared Goff was able to get the last laugh against Rams head coach Sean McVay, who traded him to Detroit just a few years before for Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The star of the game was rookie tight end Puka Nacua, who set the rookie record for receiving yards in a playoff game with 181. He had ten targets and caught nine. The one missed throw in the replay showed the pass interference that was not called. That was inevitably the last possession for the Rams, who watched David Montgomery run for a first down with a little over a minute to go. No timeouts for Los Angeles at that point, and the best game of the weekend was over.
Jared Goff finished the game with 22 completions on 27 passing attempts for 277 yards and one touchdown, with a passing rating of 121.8. Matthew Stafford had some great throws in his third matchup with the team since being traded. He finished the game, completing 25 of his 36 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns. He congratulated the organization and the fans on the playoff win. He understood the magnitude of the victory by playing for that team for so long.
The Eagles Don’t Fly In Tampa
The NFC East had a tough week. Philadelphia Eagles fans, including Gillie Da Kid, expected the NFC East champions to perform well after their rocky second half of the season. Unfortunately, that was not the case. An injured A.J. Brown and Hurts, who was still battling his middle finger injury on his throwing hand, coupled with the defense not getting pushed with their heavy defensive line, caused a recipe for disaster. The Bucs’ defense swallowed up any opportunities that the Eagles attempted in the first half.
Philadelphia tried a tush push to convert a two-point conversion to cut the Bucs’ lead late in the second quarter, but that was to no avail. The number one pick in 2018, Baker Mayfield, had almost a perfect game. Throwing for 337 yards, completing 22 of his 36 passes for a passer rating of 119.8. The Bucs now transition to the Detroit Lions, who beat them at home in Week 6 20-6 in a gritty defensive game.
The Lions fans traveled in large numbers for the game, and now that they have won their first playoff match in 33 years, Ford Field will be sold out. The question that arises is whether Baker Mayfield can replicate his excellent performance from this week when playing on the road against the above-average Detroit Lions defense.
The Chiefs and Bills Handle Business Leading To Their First Playoff Rematch Since The Magic in 13 Seconds
The Kansas City Chiefs dominated the Miami Dolphins on both sides of the ball. Tyreek Hill’s 53-yard touchdown in the second quarter gave the Dolphins fans some life. However, after that score, they never made it back in the red zone. The Chiefs’ defense was dominant, and many believe this team to be the best defensive team in the Mahomes era.
In the frigid weather, Pat still finished with 262 passing yards and a touchdown. Rashee Rice was Mahomes’ favorite target Saturday night, catching eight passes for 130 yards and a touchdown.
The Buffalo Bills’ game was postponed from Sunday to Saturday. They faced the Steelers and had a bit of a tough time, but managed to win the game 31-17. The game-changing moment came in the fourth quarter when Khalil Shaki caught a touchdown pass, putting the Bills up by two scores with only five minutes left to play. Bills quarterback Josh Allen was simply dominant in his three-touchdown performance. Two in the air, one 56-yard touchdown that the Steelers’ defensive coordinator is probably still frustrated about.

Both winning teams have set up the most exciting game next weekend on the slate. The last time these two teams played, the Chiefs got down the field into field goal range in 13 seconds. It is a legendary moment that has become a staple in the Mahomes and Travis Kelce chemistry books. It’ll be a revenge game for Allen and the Bills. Can they win on the road this weekend?
