Rapper 50 Cent is one of hip-hop’s most successful acts. Since his critically acclaimed debut studio album “Get Rich or Die Tryin,’” was released in February 2003, fans have witnessed his evolution from musician to all-around media mogul. However, that evolution has not come without its share of beef with fellow artists, and thanks to 50, a known Twitter troll, these feuds have carried on for years.
Ja Rule
50 Cent’s most notable industry feud has been with New York lyricist Ja Rule. The pair have been at odds almost since the beginning of 50’s rap career, and unfortunately, for the past 20 years, nothing has changed. While Ja previously told MTV back in 2003 that the issue stemmed from some sort of conflict during a video shoot, the “Power Universe” creator claimed in his 2005 biography, “From Pieces to Weight,” that their issues were much more serious. According to 50, one of his friends robbed Ja in 1999 for his necklace, which kicked off their issues. No matter the true origins, the men have continued to take jabs at one another, with Ja telling Piers Morgan in March 2024 that he’d won a physical fight against 50 back in the day.
G-Unit members
50 Cent also had issues with members of his own crew. He founded G-Unit Records in 2003 and added several talented acts to the lineup, such as Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo. G-Unit’s debut album, “Beg For Mercy,” was released in November 2003 and went on to achieve double platinum status. Things soured between 50 and Banks when Banks didn’t want to include Eminem on his solo album, “Hunger for More 2.” They reconciled, but 50 claimed the more lowkey rapper didn’t have the best work ethic in his 2020 book “Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter.”
As for Young Buck, he and 50 have sparred publicly. The Grammy Award winner slammed Buck’s sexuality after he was rumored to have been seeing a transgender woman. However, the Nashville rapper has accused his former boss and friend of trying to sabotage his career. Buck was forced to sell his music catalog in January 2024 due to bankruptcy. He has long accused 50 of being the reason behind his financial woes.
Rick Ross
Things between Rick Ross and 50 Cent went south in 2008 when 50 allegedly was unkind to Rozay during a BET event. 50, being the petty king he is, took Ross’ son’s mother, Tia Kemp, on a shopping spree in 2009. He also helped her publish a tell-all that same year titled “Tia’s Diary Deeper Than Rap: Clarity, Truth, and Exposure,” which called out Ross. In the years that followed, not much has changed. During his 2018 health scare, 50 mocked him on social media. Their beef remains active, with 50 mocking Ross’ and Meek Mill’s joint November 2023 project, “Too Good To Be True,” which sold 31,000 in its first week. 50 added the figure to a video caption with a laughing emoji. Rick Ross responded online and stated he was paying the “Many Men” performer no mind, considering that 50’s unspecified woman was a fan of his.
Diddy
Since Diddy’s legal troubles began, 50 Cent has used his social media platforms to poke fun at the Bad Boy founder. 50 has even claimed he wants to create a documentary based on his mounting sexual assault allegations. Like most of 50’s feuds, this one dates back years. In 2006, the drama kicked off when 50 dissed Diddy on “The Bomb,” where 50 claimed that Diddy held the answers to who killed his friend and protege Biggie Smalls in 1997. Additionally, 50 has long questioned Diddy’s sexuality, which has been a focal point of several of Diddy’s lawsuits. 50 even went at Diddy’s Ciroc Vodka once he became the spokesperson for Effen Vodka, claiming his brand was healthier. Diddy’s court cases have only given his opp more fuel, so don’t expect 50 to stop his tirade against his fellow mogul anytime soon.
