Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour has hit a roadblock in Amsterdam. The Dutch promoter Mojo has announced the cancellation of Minaj’s June 2 concert at the Ziggo Dome in the city.
According to Mojo’s statement on their website, the decision to cancel the show was “due to the events of last week.” Ticket holders will receive refunds from their point of purchase.
The “events” in question refer to an incident on May 25, when Minaj was detained by Dutch authorities after her opening show in Amsterdam.
The authorities claimed to have found marijuana in her luggage, leading to her temporary detainment. Minaj vehemently denied the allegations, documenting the experience on social media.
“I’m not carrying drugs,” Minaj said during an Instagram Live video, speaking to a police officer. “I’m not going in there, I need a lawyer present. I need a lawyer present now. Where am I going?”
The officer responded that she had to go to the police station, assuring her they would work to get her to her next show in Manchester. Minaj expressed confusion, asking, “What am I doing? Oh, so I’m under arrest? Under arrest for what?”
The incident forced Minaj to postpone her Manchester show that night, but she has since performed rescheduled dates in Manchester, Birmingham, London, and Glasgow. She is set to continue the European leg of her tour with upcoming shows in Paris, France, Germany, and Poland.
Minaj’s representatives have not yet provided a comment regarding the canceled Amsterdam date.
