Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark made history this week when they were both selected for the WNBA All-Star Game, the first time two rookies have made the team since 2014. Both have shown they are deserving of this opportunity. Reese is averaging a double-double on the season, including eleven straight double-doubles.
Reese is averaging 13 points, 12 rebounds, and a steal per game. In a tight-knit team that supports each other, the surprise announcement from Head Coach Teresa Weatherspoon overwhelmed Reese with emotion as everyone celebrated and crowded around her.
The influence and love that Clark and Reese receive are monumental. During media availability, a young fan asked Reese what motivated her, and Reese’s candid response was amazing.
I love this Chicago Sky team so much! The way they celebrated Angel Reese achievement is incredible!

“Girls like you,” Reese told the young fan. “Little girls that look up to me. Being able to wake up every day and know that little eyes are watching me.”
Reese also won Sportswoman of the Year at the BET Awards, marking an amazing week and season for her so far. Clark has also propelled the Indiana Fever back into the playoffs and helped lead her team to a big win against the Phoenix Mercury last week, making her record against Diana Taurasi 1-0.
Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 300 points, 100 assists, and 100 rebounds in 19 games. She is averaging 16 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and one steal. She mentioned during her media availability how she was excited to play with Reese, never having been teammates on Team USA. It will be nice for the fans to cheer for these two ladies together as well.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been her teammate before, been with USA Basketball or anything like that,” Clark told the media. “So, I know people are going to be really excited about it, but I hope it doesn’t take away from everyone else.”

It is another monumental achievement for the ladies, and I know the WNBA is happy that they are both delivering as well.
