Usher has postponed the opening night of his “Past Present Future” tour, originally set to begin on Wednesday night at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. The R&B star announced the decision just hours before showtime, citing physical discomfort.
In a message posted to his social media, Usher explained, “For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat, and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans. I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well, which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal.”
He reassured fans that the postponed show will still offer the full experience, with a mix of his past hits, present favorites, and a look into what’s next in his career. Usher added, “The last thing I want to do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best.”
As of now, it’s unclear whether his upcoming shows in Atlanta on Friday and Saturday will proceed as scheduled. Usher’s team has promised to update fans on ticket information and new dates soon.
This tour marks a major moment in Usher’s career, following his recent Super Bowl halftime show and the release of his ninth album, “Coming Home.” Originally planned for 24 dates across North America, the tour has been expanded to 58 shows, with a European leg slated for 2025.
Earlier this summer, Usher performed at the Essence Festival in New Orleans, celebrating the 20th anniversary of his classic “Confessions” album. He also received the 2024 BET Lifetime Achievement Award in June.
