The feud between Big Pun’s wife, Liza Rios, and Fat Joe, continues to escalate following a recent interview.

On Friday, Rios joined the “Uppercut Podcast” and addressed her longstanding grievances against rapper Fat Joe. For many years, Rios has consistently accused the Terror Squad founder of denying her family their rightful earnings from Pun’s legacy. During the interview, Rios took direct shots at Fat Joe and even claimed that his career would’ve “faded out” if it wasn’t for Pun’s assistance.
“If it wasn’t for Pun, Joe would have probably faded out,” Rios said. “If another label would have signed Pun, I feel Joe probably would have faded out in the back.”
Additionally, the conversation took a sharp turn when the interviewer asked Rios why she hadn’t apologized to Fat Joe to make amends for Big Pun’s sake. His question didn’t sit well with Rios, which eventually led to her abruptly walking out of the interview.
“You know what, I am leaving this interview. This is like a whole Fat Joe situation. I’m good. I’m good. I’m not comfortable,” she added before exiting the set.
The tension between Rios and Fat Joe has been brewing since Pun’s death in February 2000. According to the late rapper’s wife, in 2020, a financial agreement was established with Fat Joe regarding Big Pun’s earnings. However, Rios claimed that the payments stopped in 2005 which prompted her to file a lawsuit against Fat Joe in 2016 demanding over $1 million. Years later, their feud was reignited on Instagram in 2021 when Rios accused Fat Joe of withholding $2.3 million in royalties that was owed to Big Pun’s estate.
“Joe want me to apologize to him for me going after what was rightfully my family’s!? He is responsible for over $2.3 million in royalties that was never paid to Pun. It’s all in the court papers! All public info!” Rios wrote in the Instagram comment section of Joe’s “Drink Champs” episode.
Big Pun and Fat Joe shared a close and personal relationship before Pun’s untimely death. In 1997, Pun was signed to Fat Joe’s label, Terror Squad Productions, and released his debut album “Capital Punishment” in 1998. The album quickly gained widespread attention and solidified Pun as the first solo Latino rapper to go platinum. Unfortunately, Big Pun passed away in 2000 from a heart attack, leaving behind Rios and three children.
